Jockey pumps are used to keep the pressure constant at all times in the fire fighting system.

- The jockey pump must have enough output pressure to provide the desired pressure of the fire protection system.

Jockey pumps also prevent ram shock when the main pump enters the circuit.

Control system of fire pumps with electric drive

A) characteristics

- The panel must be specially made for the operation of fire pumps with electric drive.

- All the control system must be assembled, wired and set by the manufacturer before shipping from the factory.

- The design of the control system must be very reliable.

- The concept of each lamp or button and the like must be written on the panel in such a way that it cannot be erased or destroyed.

b) Enclosure cover

- The panel must be reliably protected against water drops (at least according to NEMA and IEC recommendations). When the equipment is installed in outdoor or special environments, the degree of protection of the board must be appropriate.

- The panel must be completely installed on the ground.

- Stand-on or wall-mounted panels must be equipped with all the necessary equipment for installation.

- The panel must be securely locked.

c) Launch and control

- Start-up and control should be manual or automatic.

- The automatic controller must be self-acting to start and protect the electric motor.

- When the pressure switch is used, a switch should be used that is independent of the high and low settings of the caliber in the control circuit.

- For all pumps as well as the jockey pump, each controller must have its own separate pressure switch.

- For the non-automatic mode, the manual operation switch on the control panel should be such that the engine starts manually and the operation of the manual switch does not affect the pressure switch. The system should be in such a way that the system remains in working mode during manual shutdown.

T) signal and alarm equipment

- There should be separate indicators and alarms for the following situations:

1) Failure of automatic engine start

2) Shutting down the engine due to speed over

3) Battery failure

4) Battery charger failure

5) Very low oil pressure in the lubrication system

6) The temperature of the cooling system

e) Connections and wiring

- The wiring components of the controller must be suitable for continuous operation.
